Verdens eldste er død

Godtfolk!

For å lese mer om henne, klikk her: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Besse_Cooper eller her: http://www2.tbo.com/content/2011/feb/02/T2OBITO1-georgia-woman-worlds-oldest/news-nationworld/

"JACKSONVILLE — Eunice Sanborn went home to her LORD and Savior on January 31, 2011. She died peacefully in her sleep at her home. Mr.s Sanborn was born July 20, 1895, to Gus and Varina Lyons in Lake Charles, La. She married Joseph Orchin, who was the father of her only child, Dorothy Orchin Hendrick. He was killed in an accident, leaving her a young widow. Mrs. Sanborn then married Wesley Garrett. Mr. Garrett had the vision to create the Love’s Lookout recreational park just north of Jacksonville, and Eunice and Dorothy and her friends and many East Texans spent countless happy hours there swimming and picnicking. After Mr. Garrett passed away, Eunice married Grant Sanborn and they had many happy years together before his death. Eunice often teased the men in her life that she was looking for her fourth husband, even though she was in her 90s and 100s.

Eunice’s great love was for the LORD and His work. She was asked on her 105th birthday what was the most amazing thing she had ever seen in her long life and as everyone hushed and listened intently to what event or invention she might speak of, she tearfully smiled and said, “The most amazing thing I have ever known is that Jesus Christ would die for me!” She loved her church, First Baptist of Jacksonville, and giving to the LORD’s work, helping support many young men, her “preacher boys”, through seminary. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Star.

She loved good food and she loved to visit. She and her beloved best friend Christine Bunn traveled on many trips. She had many sorrows in her life, including the death of her beloved daughter, Dorothy, who died at 90 years old in January 2005, but she always said that the LORD was faithful to be with her and give her the strength to bear what she must bear. In the hours before her death, she spoke of seeing angels.

Eunice enjoyed her notoriety of being the world’s oldest living person and would smile and say, “Think of that!” She wanted her notoriety to be a witness of her faith and the importance of being saved. How many times she would say, “I just want to bring HIM glory.” Christine Bunn and David and Rena French would like to thank Dr. James Lowe, Nurse Debbie Wiggins, and all of her faithful caregivers, including Canary Alexander, Ella Anderson, Ruby Hinton, and the Marilyn Barnett Agency for their love and service.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at her church, First Baptist of Jacksonville, Texas, with Bro. Vernon Lee, Dr. John W. Gregson, and Dr. Edwin Crank officiating, under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home."

Vennlig hilsen Toril
